Tooor!!!!!!!!!!!!
This morning we left Bamberg and headed back to our home site of Regensburg. I use quotes because I really have not spent a lot of time there at all so far - and it's been one week! I'm very excited to learn all about the Sister City - and have a little fun too! :)
As soon as we landed in Regensburg, we headed straight for the "football" game - soccer. The local team, Jahn Regensburg is in the running to move up to the 3rd league (they're currently in the fourth), which is similar to moving from the minors to the majors in American baseball - kind of a big deal. Robert and Martin sat in the fun zone and we had seats in the parent section. The atmosphere in the stadium was electric! It was such a cool experience to get to see a local football game and truly be a part of the culture. (And they won - which was pretty awesome!) I think seeing a local sporting event really shows you the life of a city - i.e. Philadelphia! The fans, the beer, happy (or angry) times all around! I always love to check out a game in every city I visit and this was so cool to have this experience.
After the game I was able to go on my first run in Germany - and it was beautiful! I ran through little villages, rolling green hills and trees - trees!!! Running, in my biased opinion, is one of the best ways to see a new place and I cannot wait to try out a different path and run again. :)
Since we have passed the one week mark and though this is an unbelievably cool experience, I am starting to miss home a bit. However, feeling this way is a positive thing! I can enjoy every minute here with my new experiences, but it does make me realize how good I have it at home. :)
