Houston...Regensburg - we have wifi!

May 24 was a complete blur – I’m not even sure it existed to be honest. We landed around 9am after leaving Philly at 5pm and we were not on that plane for 16 hours! The time change and jet lag has us feeling more like The Hangover instead of Rusty…but that doesn’t stop the Germans!

We started with the hour drive to Regensburg from Munich, full of picturesque rolling green hills, more planted Hops than Four Peaks will use during one ASU Football season, and enough solar panels and windmills to light up the Sun Devil scoreboard…Germany…I think I’m in love!
Did I also mention that we traveled on the infamous, Audubon – and I learned my first fun fact about Germany. The Audubon is not one road in particular, it’s any freeway with no speed limit and let me tell you, our driver could not be limited. :/

Once in Regensburg, I began to eat my way through the city, one pretzel, cured meat, smelly cheese and coffee cake at a time! After a much needed nap, we visited the Dult – a two week long festival on the Danube River. Picture: State Fair meets St. Patty’s Day! We continued to eat, sampled our first real German beer (there will be more) and got some spectacular shots of the city from atop a Ferris Wheel. It was a magical first impression of this quant little European town – I felt like the star of my very own Hallmark movie….finally (why do you think I write all these blogs, movie people)!

In all seriousness, I went to bed feeling so small and young in a new world I had just entered that is so vast and so full of history – something I haven’t felt since my first visit to the Amazon Rainforest – it’s good to be back!
Tomorrow, we’ll go completely European and travel to Berlin in a VW bus to see remnants of the East versus West Fence, Parliament at work and of course, more carbohydrates!
